Teaching, exorcisms, healings, more exorcisms, all in a day’s work in a fishing village by the lake of Galilee. One of the outstanding features of this section is Jesus’ total intolerance of hearing the voice of the Devil.
Jesus in Galilee
After the arrest of John, Jesus expanded His ministry by entering the heavily populated area around the Sea of Galilee. There he called two sets of brothers who were fishermen to follow Him, to become fishers of men.
Jesus of Nazareth
Prior to beginning His public ministry, there were two spiritual appointments for the Lord Jesus to keep. First, the baptism by John. Second, the temptations by the Devil. Completing these Jesus of Nazareth emerged.
John the Baptizer
After the heading of v1, Mark immediately introduces the man whom the prophets told of hundreds of years earlier: John the baptizer. He was the chosen voice of God to announce the arrival of the Word of God.
Mark’s Gospel Introduction
Likely the first published Gospel. Mark’s rapid delivery of events in the life of Christ make for one of the best ways to begin understanding the basis of Christianity. He gives us Jesus, the Perfect Servant, in action
