By parables Christ illustrates what to do and not do with knowledge of God. To let it shine is better than dousing it. To sow it and let it grow is better than leaving it unplanted. Knowledge of God must be dispersed.
The Sower
Jesus now teaches in parables; convicting and educational illustrations about God and people. He begins with the parable of the sower, the ground being metaphor for the types of reactions to hearing God’s word.
Insane Accusations
Having seen the miracles and hearing His profound teachings, some family, friends and foes still made some insane accusations about Him. He handled His misguided family’s fears and blasphemous foes firmly.
The Twelve Apostles
The Lord went out to a mountain and continued in prayer all night over the men He would select to be closest to Him and whom He would trust with authority to carry on after He ascended. He chose twelve men.
Unintimidated Ministry
In a synagogue a handicapped man became a battlefield between Jesus and legalistic clerics. Unintimidated, He healed the man on the Sabbath against their wishes. For this they plotted His destruction.
