Haman just knew what was going to happen, the King knew nothing of what was happening, and the Jews were afraid of what might happen, though it never happened. Such is God’s Sovereignty over uncertainty.

How are believers to live their lives? Peter gives us components which belong to life in Christ. He makes it clear that we are offered salvation and behavioral instruction, having no need for psychology’s theories.

Mordecai arrives at the palace gates in sackcloth and ashes. Careful to conceal Esther’s ethnicity, he sends her messages about Haman’s plan and that she must see the king. She hesitates then risks her life to do it.

First Peter was written to Christians suffering persecution. This Second letter was written to alert Christians against infiltration of seductive false teachers. Together Peter’s letters address suffering and seduction.
Old Hatreds
The king elevates Haman, a hater of Jews, to the second highest rank in the kingdom. Mordecai, a Jew and inveterate enemy of Haman’s people, openly defies him, igniting a rage in Haman to slaughter all the Jews.
