The apostle tells these persecuted believers that Christ Himself suffered persecution to death on our behalf. He points out that those who have come to Christ have changed a lifestyle, to live like Christ no matter what.
Promises and Dwellings
Mere talk is cheap. What must happen to get professed believers to commit to what they claim to believe?! Here we see believers sign their names to their confession. But later we find some again abandoning God.
Bringing Us to God
The sufferings of the Son of God were all about bringing lost souls to God for salvation. Peter points out that Noah, a preacher of righteousness, preached to lost souls because Christ was in him even before the Flood.
Believer’s Obligations
Peter has been laying out the life in Christ before these believers in the early days of escalating Roman persecution. The life submitted to Christ is one of a love that compels us to fulfill our obligations to Jesus
