To believers suffering an intensifying persecution, Peter tells them to be serious, love, watch and serve Christ. Then he points out that suffering for Christ is not an odd thing, and to rejoice in it for God is faithful.
Two Dedications
In these final two chapters we first read of the Jews dedicating the restored walls of Jerusalem. Then we read of the dedication to God in a man like Nehemiah who tolerated no boldface trampling of God’s word.
Changed Lifestyle
The apostle tells these persecuted believers that Christ Himself suffered persecution to death on our behalf. He points out that those who have come to Christ have changed a lifestyle, to live like Christ no matter what.
Promises and Dwellings
Mere talk is cheap. What must happen to get professed believers to commit to what they claim to believe?! Here we see believers sign their names to their confession. But later we find some again abandoning God.
Bringing Us to God
The sufferings of the Son of God were all about bringing lost souls to God for salvation. Peter points out that Noah, a preacher of righteousness, preached to lost souls because Christ was in him even before the Flood.
