For God’s house David made abundant preparations. But God prohibited David from building it. So David gave the plans and stockpiles of resources to his son Solomon to build it as prophesied. The glow in David’s heart for God never dimed through all the years of hardship and personal failure.
David’s Self-will
In bullheaded fashion, David insists on doing what he knows is outside of God’s will, and before he submits, the deed will be done. As so often with sin, once the act is committed the realization and conviction hit with consequence.
Kingdoms of Fools
A kind gesture by King David towards a kingdom that suffered the loss of their own king results in full out war. This is the cost of kingdoms run by fools as told in the story. May the kingdom of our own heart learn from these lessons.
