The next king in Judah was the good and godly King Jehoshaphat. Everything he put his hands to God blessed and protected in the early years of his reign. He grew the army, fortified cities, and had the people taught God’s word.
Stumble of a Godly King
The latter days of King Asa were not faithful as his beginning. He let fear chase away his faith and turned to human wisdom and armies to protect him, even turning against God’s prophet. In the end he was hobbled in his feet and faith
The Godly King Affect
A prophet preaches to King Asa, and the king believes the messages, taking God honoring actions God. The nation rejoices and rededicates itself to worship and obey the Lord. High level idolatry is removed, and the land is cleansed
Finally A Godly King
Finally a Godly king to fortify the kingdom. King Asa was interested in what interested God. He cleansed Judah from idolatrous influences and worked to restore her defenses without idols and was victorious against an enormous foe.
The Feisty King
Abijah is now king in Judah. He wastes no time going after his father’s arch enemy, King Jeroboam. As Abijah lectures the northern tribes their army encircles Judah’s army, but God delivers the victory to Judah.
