Insolent sin, masquerade, pretense, and appearances characterize Rehoboam’s life. A king who could have glorified God, but chose to depart from Him instead. He lost the gold shields of Judah and made brass shields in their place.
The Divided Kingdom
Here are two types of leaders that caused grief for everyone else. Rehoboam the amateur king and Jeroboam the seekerfriendly king. Rehoboam was weak; Jeroboam was an apostate. However, some took their stand for Yahweh.
The Amateur King
Rehoboam, Solomon’s son, is now king of Israel. He will forever stand as a lesson against arrogance, and downright stupidity. He is remembered for discarding the wise, listening to the ignorant and splitting the kingdom.
Solomon and A Queen
The Queen of Sheba heard how God had blessed Solomon but she had to see it to believe it. When she saw, she believed and was left breathless. After the story of Sheba, the wealth of Solomon is recorded as well as his death
God with Solomon
As Solomon concludes his prayer at the Temple’s dedication, God fills the Temple with His Shekinah. He then appears to Solomon that night. In the eighth chapter, the chronicler gives a concise overview of Solomon’s dealings
