Musicians, gatekeepers and treasurers are organized for worship, temple duties and the kingdom. Then in chapter 27 David organizes the military divisions and overseers of agricultural resources.
David Arranges Temple Duties (Part 1)
Not only did David amass great treasures and resources for the building of temple, he spent his last days setting the order of worship for the Levites and priests, even boosting their numbers to meet the needs of national worship.
Let Us …
Based upon all the writer has been saying since he began this letter, he now says because of the Superiority of Christ, Let us draw near … Let us hold … Let us consider … not forsaking the assembling together.
For the House of God
For God’s house David made abundant preparations. But God prohibited David from building it. So David gave the plans and stockpiles of resources to his son Solomon to build it as prophesied. The glow in David’s heart for God never dimed through all the years of hardship and personal failure.
Christ’s Perfect Work
The Old Testament animal sacrifices were unable to lift the judgment of sin off sinners before a Holy God. Otherwise there would have been no need for the sacrifice of the Son of God. His sacrifice is a perfect work.
