The people of Malachi’s day at scoffed at the idea of God enforcing justice, mocking Him, saying that He approved of injustice (2:17). But God promised otherwise, a dreadful day of judgment awaits the wicked, but glory for believers.
More Glory Than Moses
Moses was so high up in the mind of the Jews in the days that Hebrews was written, that serious attention to Jesus over even Moses was necessary. Christ, sent by love, from His throne in heaven for souls on earth.
Author of Our Salvation
Jesus placed Himself amongst sinners by merging into humanity; finishing His work by allowing Himself to be killed for our salvation. Being without sin, He was the perfect sacrifice, both Author and doer for sinners.
Slamming Their Question
Malachi’s generation questioned God’s presence and justice (2:17). For the rest of the book His justice and knowledge of their ways is stated. Warning those who don’t fear Him of grave judgment, but glory for His remnant.
Destiny of the Saved
God created man to rule over creation, but man’s sin interfered with God’s plans. So God sent the Savior, Jesus Christ, to restore man, and has destined redeemed sinners for glory.
