This is the good news of deliverance. This is the scripture that the Lord read in the synagogue in Nazareth, but He did not read the whole passage. He stopped at a comma. That comma has lasted two thousand plus years, and it is our window for deliverance from our sins.
Restraining Sin
Sins power is broken by our union with Christ in His death and in His resurrection. We are dead to our fleshly sinful former selves. We are born again to Christ’s nature, but even so our old Adamic nature can get in our way as believers, so we must strive to restrain it.
Kingdom Age Transformations
The prophet Isaiah foretells of the future glory for Jerusalem. Though they are in darkness for now, in the millennial Kingdom they will shine bright for the nations to see. The Lord will reign gloriously from Mount Zion and Jerusalem will be honored as the City of Peace.
Adam’s World
By the first Adam, sin entered the world. By the last Adam, Jesus Christ, our sin is dealt with. By Adam death reigns over all of us; thru Christ, eternal life is ours and we are washed clean by His atoning work.
Rotten Apples
Injustice and oppression will be dealt with. The sinful think that they are getting away with it, but Isaiah states that God is in control and that He has a plan to deal with it. Unfortunately the righteous remnant will have to suffer thru the existence of “Rotten Apples” living amongst them.
