After the Lord ascended to heaven, the apostles returned to Jerusalem. There in an upper room the disciples, including the women, gathered for pray. Later, on Peter’s initiative, the men felt compelled to find a replacement for Judas Iscariot. Subsequent actions of the Lord Jesus and events in the history of the Church indicate that appointing a replacement for Judas’ by men was well meaning, but still interference.
