King David knows that he is about to die. He gives wise, heartfelt final instructions to his son Solomon, who is now king, on how to be God’s king. David charged Solomon to keep the charge of Yahweh, to be a man of God’s word, to be strong and prove himself a man. Moreover, David instructed Solomon to deal with Joab and Shemei, and to bless the sons of Barzillai, an old friend when being a fried counted for much.
