Haman just knew what was going to happen, the King knew nothing of what was happening, and the Jews were afraid of what might happen, though it never happened. Such is God’s Sovereignty over uncertainty.
Do or Die
Mordecai arrives at the palace gates in sackcloth and ashes. Careful to conceal Esther’s ethnicity, he sends her messages about Haman’s plan and that she must see the king. She hesitates then risks her life to do it.
Old Hatreds
The king elevates Haman, a hater of Jews, to the second highest rank in the kingdom. Mordecai, a Jew and inveterate enemy of Haman’s people, openly defies him, igniting a rage in Haman to slaughter all the Jews.
Submitted to the Throne
Four years passed since events in chapter one. To find a queen for the king, young women are brought to the palace resulting in Esther becoming queen. Esther’s beauty, prudence and submitted spirit prevailed.
Make Way for the Queen
Begins now the story of providence. God cared for His people in the face of deliberate attempts to destroy them as a people. While participants may be unaware of approaching dangers, God is not, He is prepared.
