The proclamation of salvation reaching to the end of the earth is reinforced; His Servant will be the light to the Gentiles. God will remember Zion and there is a promise of Israel’s restoration, looking even to the future kingdom age where Israel will be at peace and prosperous.
They Should Have Known Better
God’s ancient plan to redeem Israel; Isaiah tells of the future for God’s stubborn people. He gives them a hope and a promise of freedom from Babylon. He will refine Israel thru the exiles and trials that He has and will allow to come, all for God’s Glory and to show the nations that He is Sovran.
Warped Spiritual Knowledge
The LORD thru the prophet Isaiah laments for Babylon; the humiliation of Babylon is predicted as well as its fall. Though gone, the spirit of Babylon will live on and return at the end of the age to be judged again.
Enough with the Idols!
The Lord again laments Israel’s turning to dead idols and away from Him the Living God. Babylon’s false gods will not save them from the Lord’s servant Cyrus. God states it clearly “Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.”
Ruler and Overruler
Cyrus is the LORD’s Chosen Instrument. The LORD rules in the affairs of men (Dan 4:17). Isaiah tells of the future conversion of Gentiles and that God seeks those that will trust in Him and let Him be LORD of their lives.
