Isaiah, having given Millennial Kingdom encouragement to the believers, returns to the political conditions in his part of the world — The Assyrian menace. He warns the arrogant alcoholics of the Northern Kingdom, in the palace, and the priests and prophets as well. Then, he warns Judah that the same fate awaits them because of their abandoning Yahweh and seeking Egypt’s help as well as the darkness of the spiritual realm. This all leads to his teachings being mocked by those given to alcohol, to which he responds with biting satire, and lampoons those of Judah as well for their inability to get things right.
Old Testament Maranatha!
The prophet sees ahead into the Messianic Kingdom Age when Jesus returns to earth with His saints, and establishes Divine rule over the earth. His capital city will be Jerusalem and from there the nations of the world will flock to worship Him. Isaiah, who lived almost all his life under the threat of Assyrian invasion, was excited over the thought of Messiah’s rule on earth “in that day.”
Setting Things Right
Isaiah sees the day coming when the Lord will deal directly with the maritime superpower city of Tyre. He goes on to see God set things right with other nations who disregard Him and rule by corruption, and that awful sin of self-serving pride; both on earth and in the spiritual. He quotes God: “in that day the Lord will punish on high the host of exalted ones, and on the earth the kings of the earth.” God will set things right on earth in that day.
Satan’s Global Influence
In the days before the global flood of Noah, and then the Tower of Babel’s judgment, there were not many hindrances to Satan’s Global Influence. Yes, the flood filtered out the wicked, but the descendants of Noah soon found a way to fall under Satan’s global influence again at Babel’s tower, which brought God’s interference to slow the spread of Global evil. Today, Satan’s global influence has returned in full force through technology and the internet. The wishes of Hell are rapidly spread throughout earth at an unprecedented speed. One particular evil is the so called “transgender identity.” Our youth are succumbing to it, and others are advocating it or at the least tolerant of it. The position of God against this evil and the evil of Satan’s influence is that the righteous stand against it and make God’s view and influence known; be the salt of the earth and light of the world for those who will repent.
Telescopic Predictions
Isaiah’s prophetic predictions were near and far reaching in their fulfillment, even to the end of history. In these two chapters he tells the future concerning the doom of the Babylonia empire, the end of people of Edom as a race and the future of the Arabs. He also tells of Jerusalem’s fall. Finally he addressed the chief servant in King Hezekiah’s court, Shebna by name, his pride, his demotion and his fate. All this as though looking through a telescope into the future.
