Using the occasion of His cursing a barren fig tree, and the parallels between the tree and Israel, He said trust God and pray without doubt to move the immovable. He then warned of rules in prayer: forgive or else.
The Dissatisfaction of Christ
Christ showed His dissatisfaction of the nation Israel in His cursing a fig tree that promised fruit but produced none. It was a prophetic parallel. Then, at the temple, again He drove out cheaters; then taught the people.
The Day of Selection
Jesus enters Jerusalem the same day the Jews selected their sacrificial lambs for the Passover sacrifice. For four days lambs were quarantined and observed for defects. Jesus is God’s selected sacrificial Lamb.
Now or Never
Here is the story of a blind beggar who refused to miss a chance to receive the healing touch of Christ on his eyes. He would not be silenced, it was now or never, so he called out loud to Jesus and received his sight.
Amazed, Afraid, Annoying
Jesus makes His way to Jerusalem, knowing that crucifixion awaits Him. The apostles, aware of hostilities there are amazed that He is going and are afraid. Then comes an ill-timed request from two of them.
