The LORD comforts Zion, He reminds them to trust the LORD. Though they will be faced with many trials, the LORD promises everlasting salvation for Zion and He will not abandon His people even if they abandon Him.
Early Detection Alerts
God deals with Israel’s sin and their disobedience. He has not abandoned them. In contrast, He pronounces the LORD’s servant obedience. Though He will be rejected by some, He will endure and fulfill God’s plan to bring light to the nations.
Resolving Failures
The proclamation of salvation reaching to the end of the earth is reinforced; His Servant will be the light to the Gentiles. God will remember Zion and there is a promise of Israel’s restoration, looking even to the future kingdom age where Israel will be at peace and prosperous.
They Should Have Known Better
God’s ancient plan to redeem Israel; Isaiah tells of the future for God’s stubborn people. He gives them a hope and a promise of freedom from Babylon. He will refine Israel thru the exiles and trials that He has and will allow to come, all for God’s Glory and to show the nations that He is Sovran.
Warped Spiritual Knowledge
The LORD thru the prophet Isaiah laments for Babylon; the humiliation of Babylon is predicted as well as its fall. Though gone, the spirit of Babylon will live on and return at the end of the age to be judged again.
