In a gentle tone he tells them that better things belong to our salvation. Nudging them forward, encouraging them not to be sluggish, since God is faithful, as Abraham realized. God’s reliability is an anchor of hope.
Doom of Apostates
Having pointed out that their mixed feelings about Christ rendered them low interest Christians, he proceeds to warn them that this is a pathway to apostasy, a path from which there is little, if any, chance of recovery.
Our High Priest Forever
Having introduced Jesus as our Great High Priest, the writer now develops the difference between the sons of Aaron and the Son of God. He closes the chapter critical of Christians who refuse to grow in Christ.
Scripture and Our Great High Priest
The writer calls for diligence, pointing to the power of God’s word to penetrate man’s soul. Next he states that we have a Great High Priest, Jesus Christ, and He knows our weaknesses and is merciful still.
Christ’s Rest is Salvation
Christians trust Christ alone for salvation, by faith, or fall short of entering His salvation. Since some Jews began to doubt salvation through faith in Jesus’ finished work of the Cross, they are encouraged rest in Him.
