Building on his reference to Hab 2:4, the just shall live by faith, the writer defines faith, and what it involves. Beginning with faith being real, evident, and available to all, he lays the foundation for examples to follow
Don’t Do It!
There are five great warning passages in Hebrews: Heb 2:1–4; 3:7–4:13; 5:11–6:12; 10:19–39; 12:14–29. This one is the strongest warning in the letter, to not abandon or mingle the faith.
Let Us …
Based upon all the writer has been saying since he began this letter, he now says because of the Superiority of Christ, Let us draw near … Let us hold … Let us consider … not forsaking the assembling together.
Christ’s Perfect Work
The Old Testament animal sacrifices were unable to lift the judgment of sin off sinners before a Holy God. Otherwise there would have been no need for the sacrifice of the Son of God. His sacrifice is a perfect work.
Christ’s Finished Work
This chapter ends with the clear teaching that Jesus Christ will never suffer and die again. That He has taken care of business on behalf of all who will believe according to the Scripture; they be with Him forever!
