Having advised believers to remain attached to the Son and the Father, John calls us to look at the Father’s love for us. He points to the blessing belonging in God’s family and the Christlikeness being formed in us.

Since we are friends with God the Father and Son, we are to remain attached to the Them. This relationship offers discernment from the Holy Spirit’s anointing touch, helping us to remain attached when attacked

Antichrist, and antichrists are promised to remain amongst us and are identified as already operating in the days of the apostles. John warns and reminds believers to be distinguished by truth and abide with Christ.

In part two outlines for us how the doomed world system operates. It lures and stumbles everyone it can through its temptations, causing personal lusts, covetousness and self-exaltation. We must seek God’s will.

In this first part John puts it bluntly that the world, which is humanity without Christ, is not to be embraced by followers of Jesus Christ. He warns that loving a world that rejects Him is evidence that we don’t love God.
